Who is Tavel?
Rachel Tavel is a published travel writer now studying to become a Doctor of Physical Therapy. She graduated from Bowdoin College in 2005 where she earned her BA in Spanish and archaeology.
After graduating, Tavel interned at American Express Publishing, where she worked with Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, Executive Travel, Departures, and Centurion magazines.
In 2007, she co-authored the Frommer's guidebook, "MTV Best of Mexico" (Wiley Publishing, 2007), for which she wrote the Acapulco, Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, and Taxco chapters.
From late 2006 to early 2010, Tavel served as the editor of an independent school's annual magazine. In addition, she contributed to the VIVA Travel Guides to Argentina, Quito and Guatemala, as well as Budget Travel magazine. Her photography has been published in Everywhere magazine and the VIVA Guide to Quito.
Tavel is a half-Argentinean native New Yorker. After a six-month stint working as a staff writer for VIVA Travel Guides in Quito, Ecuador, Tavel returned to her hometown, Manhattan, to fulfill the pre-med pre-requisites to apply to Doctor of Physical Therapy programs.
Tavel is currently finishing her post-baccalaureate pre-med courses at the Harvard Extension School in Cambridge, MA. She will begin pursuing her new degree in physical therapy this June, 2013.
Last but not least, Tavel is writing a travel memoir about her adventures as a twenty-something... Stay tuned!

They are little marzipan/chocolate balls… I don’t really know where this picture was taken but I’ll guess Salzburg, Austria since that’s where Mozart was born.
